My American copywriting mentor always wore a suit to her discovery calls. She was pretty. Had a way with words. And took full advantage of it. She had clients lining up, awwing and wowing as they signed contracts worth thousands of dollars. She always told me, “everything matters in this business. especially how clients perceive you. if you wanna command big bucks, you gotta look the part.” Since learning this, I began to wear nerd glasses on every call. Why? To portray trustworthiness & intelligence. Because even though I am those things, they won’t know if I don’t show them. And yes, it’s got a 90% success rate. My pretty mentor was damn right.

Your village people are innocent. The reason why you are not getting gigs is simply because you are always lazy to go through the job application process. If you want to increase your chances of getting hired, try to always update your portfolio and CV once or twice a month.

Valid Question. The other person’s work was directly responsible for generating us N88m in revenue in last month. Lesson here is if you can directly attribute your work to revenue, you can make more.

Here’s a snippet from the content strategy I created for a marketing company in Lagos. Most agencies post and ghost. Smart people are busy building connections in the comment section and showing up everywhere. Q: what’s your strategy to grow in Q3 2026?

@Nicolascole77 A writer who doesn’t understand the fundamentals of writing can only produce mediocre writing at best, even with the help of AI

Like most things in life, the topic of education is a nuanced one. But after teaching 15,000+ writers in our various writing programs, I will say a pattern I’ve observed is the faster a student jumps to using AI, the worse their writing is. Whereas the ones who slow down and take the time to actually learn and practice the skill end up not only being better writers, but get 10x better results using AI—because they’re getting leverage on skills they have built from the ground up. I love technology & AI. But I deliberately look for ways to practice writing “the hard way” because I see such a tremendous return on that effort, later, when combined with AI. So yea, we can’t pretend these new technologies don’t exist. But we also shouldn’t discount the long-term cost of always trying to take the shortcut.
