People underestimate how delicate and how hard it is to put yourself out there, and a lot of the time people take for granted that even creators are doing things little by little to build their confidence. Whether or not this was intended to be helpful, comments like this are also what can sometimes get people to stop singing forever — some even stop talking and can’t ever do it again. Everyone only has 1 voice. You get the one, and it’s hard to change. A lot of the time people HATE their voice, and it’s a very long road to even be comfortable with it. Even the smallest thing that you might find helpful can set someone back regardless how long someone has been training or professionally doing something. I am very open with my own community to talk about why the voice does certain things like crack, why someone may use a slide to help them reach a pitch, a pronounced vocal break, etc. when comments like this are made, but I do want it to be acknowledged that not all streamers have that knowledge to have that discussion or the confidence to open that up. This was not a comment made in my own stream, but I do think it’s very important that as a viewer you don’t take for granted when your streamer is stepping out of their comfort zone. Cheer them on to build their confidence to grow and be comfortable so they CAN start applying the techniques necessary for maintaining proper vocal health and sustainability. It’s not a bad thing to want to see your streamer grow in a skill or want them to get coaching! But time and place is everything along with the way it is brought up. Every voice has power to it, so use yours to uplift and strengthen with mindfulness and care.
