The day we all feared has come to pass. In a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court ruled in Louisiana v. Callais that Louisiana's map creating a 2nd majority-black district was "an unconstitutional racial gerrymander." This narrows the interpretation of Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, making it harder to redraw districts in majority-black states and opening up the possibility of Republicans redrawing their maps to completely exclude Black voters. It’s unclear what the fallout will be at this time, but it is terrible news for our democracy. Voter suppression is a way of life for Donald Trump and far right extremists on the Supreme Court. Republicans know they cannot win a free and fair election in November and so they are desperate to rig it. We will never let them succeed.

Although the Supreme Court technically upheld Section II of VRA, it will effectively dilute the voting power of Black Americans. Trump, Vance, Republican Justices, & Republicans in Congress are undermining multiracial democracy because they fear it. They will not prevail
