I love how most of Perliks’ actions were to make sure the groom had a moment. He was either coordinating the boys to make sure Femi was always centered or was involving him in something fun. His too much is the right kind of too much. Happy married life to the bride and groom!

You do not understand why those of us who are angry, are. We are simply the raving mad fools who believe that the country can do so much better but we sit on our high horses with our highly educated peers and debate what we already know. We laugh when something we said two years ago plays out. We high five ourselves and say “we called it!” “We are too good at this.” But we don’t sit with you. We don’t hold your hands when we tell you harsh truths so you side with your oppressors. We are sorry. On all our behalves, I apologize. I just hope that gradually, you can come to the understanding of why you should be angry at the injustice that has been done to you. That it sets your whole being on fire. That you come to the understanding that your raving madness is beyond justified, it is science, theory, and academia BACKED. Yours Always, O.A

I cannot even say "Nigerians are not angry enough" because what skills have you built to critically question and back your anger? How many people have read the historical literature of where we are coming from? How many understand the economic interconnectivity of land, labour, capital. Yes, you studied it la cram la pour style in high school but do you understand the politics of how it plays out in your everyday life? Do you understand what it means when the two largest oil palm companies in your country is owned, over 60% by Belgium and France? Do you know the implications of having a syllabus that draws its foundations from the 1970s? Do you understand how that translate into your inability to decipher why certain things have to be done? When they said they were increasing the age of university entrants to 18 years, did you understand why what was happening in the job market gave the government the only option to delay your growth by a couple of years? Hope you would get frustrated, pick up a trade, get married, and fall in the same vicious cycle of the trodden electorates. Do you understand that the western nations that have “saddled” you with majority democratic vote do not even use it themselves? When Hillary Clinton won majority vote in the US, why did she not become president? What method do you think they employ in the UK? Not only have you been kept poorly educated or completely uneducated. You have been kept so poor that the donated COVID-19 palliatives are redistributed as campaign materials and you still go to vote regardless. Do you know how much a person has to not rate you for them to not even budget your portion of the bribes into their election budgets? How much is indomieeee?????!!!!! Your elites, oh! How bottom barrel your elites are! Do you know how blatantly demeaning that international critical thinking and production companies arrive Nigeria and have to do couple contents or dance on social media or pick people from reality tv shows to entertain you before you think about investment and the future? Your attention span is so lowwww! When last did you even read a proper, full newspaper?! Look at the decline in the traffic of news website! If it’s not TikTok or instagram that takes your focus away from your immediate pain, you don’t want to hear it. Do you know how dumb it is that critics make videos about what could be improved across industries; food, fashion, acting, media, and you the fans are told to report and bring down the page because critical feedback feels like an attack to the mediocre ego you and your “idolo” have held tightly to? Do you know what it means to not have a singular vision of what the nation is working towards? That a system or initiative could be functional and the next leader simply because they are in the opposition takes it all down just to make a point? What nation have amounted to anything without a vision their people can recite generation to generation in their dream? China? - the "great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation" (the Chinese Dream). U.S? - The American Dream: "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.” Singapore? - "From Third World to First". Your leaders don’t even rate you enough to give you a dream because  they do not want you holding them accountable to something as basic as a vision. Do you know what IT MEANS? THAT YOUR PARENTS COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SAME ISSUES YOU ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT TODAY AND YOU ARE STARTING TO HAVE KIDS WHOSE PEERS ARE BUILDING ROBOTS AT 6 YEARS OLD BUT YOURS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUES TO THE FOURTH GENERATION?! Do you know what it means that you have worked so hard to give your children some social security and soft landing but they would never escape the evil that you and your fathers have let grow into the adageous tree that cannot be dealt with by simply cutting it down but must be fully uprooted? That is why I cannot blame you for not being angry.

Heck! It is why you are nostalgic about what twitter used to be. This new crop are not being fed or educated. At least you got a shot. Your cousins, nephews, relatives, our future generations are not getting a chance because of our refusal to engage.

Nigerians are too docile and I can argue that it is because of the increased food insecurity! If you are not getting enough protein-calories your cognitive performance is impaired and that’s why such Electoral Act Amendment Bill will pass.

Africa is being left behind in the AI wave. None of the GTM efforts are currently focused on Africa (incl. the big markets). What could we do to make AI commercially viable for these big players.?

While I’m curious about the data itself, I’ll say we did a behavioral study of men and women smallholder farmers solely financially responsible for their households and compared usage of similar sources of income (the insurance payout). The women headed households prioritized investing in the food security of their households first and other costs before investing in multiple streams that helped them grow like seeds, tools, and technology. The men prioritized exploring a new investment line altogether even when they had not done anything other than farming. They did not prioritize investing in the household or in the same line of business. In repaying the initial input loans (they all had 1ha of land, similar loan inputs, received the same training and therefore knew the risk of repayment) the women still performed better despite lower levels of reinvestment. I don’t know what you mean by financial burden but how many rural smallholder often widowed women farmers have men catering to their beck and call? You could point to cultural or historic differences that can be debated but I do not agree on it being easier for women to hedge against uncertainty simply because men are perceived to have been placed a “financial performance burden.”
Gerry STX@OsemudiamenOG

When the burden of financial performance isn’t on you, it’s easier to hedge against uncertainty.
