A more secure (and faster) alternative, is to use your government issued ID with a selfie photo to ensure only you can access your accounts - even if your phone is compromised or lost. This is how account owners are verified offline, and it works online too.

The least secure entry point is the password reset or account recovery process. All someone needs to do is pretend they are locked out of your account due to password or #2FA issues, and the well-intentioned support team has only primitive tools to assess if it’s really you.

The best way to protect people of all ages is to verify that a real person behind an account is known to at the least the platform (even if the player goes by another name in public).
