From the days when it was a colonial outpost to its rise as the heartbeat of indigenous enterprise, the city has continuously reinvented itself. It has birthed revolutions, nurtured industry, and become home to some of the most industrious minds in Africa. This month, as we embark on “Aba: The Place. The People. The Story.”, we invite you to join us in rediscovering the rich history of this great city. We are particularly delighted to be collaborating with the Aba Book Club on their inspiring "Nwa Aba: Forged with Boundless Resilience" project, which seeks to collect personal narratives that capture the authentic spirit of the Aba people. Each day in April, we will unveil a different aspect of Aba’s 130-year journey—its people, commerce, craftsmanship, struggles, triumphs, and the indomitable will that defines Enyimba City. From the legendary Aba Women’s War of 1929, which shook the foundations of British colonial rule, to the rise of Ariaria International Market. Aba’s legacy is woven into the fabric of Nigeria’s history. It is a city that has stood firm in the face of adversity—whether during the Nigerian Civil War or through the economic challenges of the present day. Aba’s story is one of innovation, creativity, and resistance. It is the home of legendary craftsmen, the birthplace of industry, and the ground where countless dreams have taken flight. It is the city where every hustler has a chance, and every small idea can grow into an empire.
