@aherneliz Sensehub here. When we got back into cattle, put 63 collars onto maiden heifers just before the start of breeding season. All 63 picked up in 22 days, last one was late getting her collar on. Health is good too but the winner is the drafting gate, real time saver there

@aherneliz @DavidCummins85 Let's just hope the fast drop will be followed by a fast rise. There's going to be a lot of sales next spring from farmers that held on a year with the good milk price, I can't see many older lads wanting to work for nothing next year when there's an easy exit waiting

@aherneliz @DavidCummins85 Apparently Dairygold suppliers were told to expect another 6c in cuts before Christmas so you'd be looking at breakeven prices at best at the turn of the year. I don't think it's registering with lads yet, culls to sell and stores off grass will paper over cracks for a while

@aherneliz @DavidCummins85 We had our co-op area meeting at the end of August and we were told that monitor farm figures were coming in around 40c. Now, those lads would be in the top tier so average costs on the rest of suppliers farms would be 1 or 2c/l more again.

@DavidCummins85 We're getting very close to cost of production now. Lads that hung on this year with good prices will be bailing out next spring. Only for having a lad interested, I'd be joining them
