When you travel and you get to a hotel room, do you get organized before you leave the hotel room? Meaning you unpack, you set up all your chargers set up your CPAP machine if you have one so you don’t die and basically get your command center operational. Or do you just drop all your shit and go out? There is only one right answer here

A US special forces soldier just got arrested for betting on the Maduro raid. Master Sergeant Gannon Van Dyke helped plan and execute the operation to capture Nicolás Maduro in January. Hours before the raid, he placed $33,000 in bets on Polymarket that Maduro would be out of power by January 31. He won $409,000. He then asked Polymarket to delete his account to cover his tracks. Polymarket reported him to the DOJ instead. This is the first-ever insider trading case tied to prediction market event contracts. The CFTC and DOJ both filed charges. Van Dyke faces up to 20 years.

@DubaiAce Basically if they made everything smaller - pitch, goals, ball, length of halves I think the game would be more attractive to watch than it is now.

@alottopro The best women’s football in conference standard if that. The women’s game lacks the physicality of the men’s which is why it will never be attractive to watch

@DubaiAce They should design a version of the game for women - on the surface it will look similar, but may have different dimensions (field/ball/goal), times of halves etc. Half of why woman often look comical is that they are playing a game specifically designed for men.

@alottopro I’m not interested in women’s football, I don’t know any man who is. Sky are just as bad, now instead of having the prem then the championship tables, they’re putting the women’s prem table after the men, why are we being force fed this shit. I’ve no problem women playing it

@Bob_Somebody021 @willsolfiac ok it is a thought experiment... but imagine you choose red and half of humanity is wiped out, your friends/your family etc, and you the red button pusher was responsible. And you're only left with people who did the same as you. I'd rather be dead!

@willsolfiac @alottopro Really? A Twitter poll where there's no chance of actual death is higher than a hypothetical real life scenario where you can actually die? Like obviously we can't know but I would expect a massive decrease in an actual real scenario

I always like this poll for exposing a specific type of person - the rational-but-hyper-narrow thinker. They're always unable to comprehend people choosing blue, even though obviously large numbers (IMO a majority) would.
Tim Urban@waitbutwhy

Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?

The league football season for betting is basically over for me - think there is too more variance in the tail end to be worth it. The summer leagues... To bet or not to bet, that is the question? 🤔

Match of the Day@BBCMOTD

An incredible 52-year journey comes to an end. Following extensive consideration, BBC Sport has made the difficult decision to say goodbye to Football Focus at the end of this season. First broadcast in 1974, Football Focus is a testament to the brilliant team who have worked on it over the years and, of course, the audience. The programme has been a staple of the BBC’s football coverage for decades, providing fans with interviews, analysis and stories from across the game ahead of the weekend’s fixtures. But changing audience behaviours mean fans are now increasingly consuming football content in different ways and we need to respond appropriately as we face difficult decisions around how the licence fee is spent. Fans are accessing discussion, highlights, analysis and news through digital platforms and on-demand viewing and as viewing habits continue to evolve, it is right that BBC Sport adapts how it brings football coverage to the widest audiences across television, radio, online and to its extensive social platforms. BBC Sport boasts a strong football rights portfolio and is set to significantly expand its digital output this year growing content across BBC platforms, as well as a bold new slate of exclusive shows on YouTube. Featuring fresh formats, big personalities and more frequent, always-on content tailored for digital audiences, the expansion will bring fans closer to the game than ever before delivering more high-quality, accessible and engaging football coverage at scale. We will release further details on these plans in the coming months.

According to Iain Duncan Smith, gambling advertising should be banned because it is "luring people into gambling more and more." 🤔

@callistores Why do adults choose to spend their own money with black market bookies? Because the regulated market is no fit for purpose. I have no problem with black market bookies if they treat their customers fairly - nor should anyone else. Fix the regulated market if you have a problem.
