@hchesner Michelle, this word reminds me of the Ladino publication Me'am Lo'ez, I looked up the spelling of the phrase (which apparently comes from Psalm 114), and it is like this: מֵעַ֥ם לֹעֵֽז So maybe that's the meaning of this word?

This one is pretty cool. Per its title page, it "translates all of the strange words from the Bible from Hebrew to Laz" (I think Laz here is Spanish, but hopefully someone can confirm.)

More digitization doesn't mean more access--it means more fragile information at risk. "By empowering libraries and archives legally, culturally, and financially, we can safeguard the public’s ability to maintain access to our cultural history and our digital future." ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Wonderful essay by @RuthAhnert & colleagues on using network analysis not only for locating connections among entities, but also for foregrounding the archival infrastructure that shapes our access to the past. Alongside other excellent case studies here: muse.jhu.edu/issue/53153

People assign hidden meanings and metaphors behind "the Archive" because often archival institutions are housed in derelict asylums, old hospitals, abandoned monasteries, even abattoirs... ...while it all comes down to neglect, devaluing, lack of funding & commitment.

This sounds awesome! 😍 Knowing *how much* of humanity's knowledge and data is "hidden" and inaccessible to LLMs, I'm amazed at the naivety of those who think that generative AI generates...comprehensive or representative or substantial stuff.

@hchesner @Footprints_Heb @adam_shear Michelle, I showed the inscription to a friend (who reads Ottoman Turkish) who translated it as Osmanî Vezîret, meaning Ottoman vizierate. This might mean several scenarios, one of which that the book some time found its way into the imperial library.
