@AndyStaples I rewatched the replay because I thought Stirtz called a timeout but I believe he was making a shooting motion rather than calling for it back.

Here’s the diabolical part. If you watch the replay, Stirtz is clapping to get the ball back if the shot isn’t open because Hough had slipped off.
They were shooting a three there.

Kentucky didn’t guard the inbound against Duke in 92 and it burned them, but that’s obviously an extreme example.

That really was a perfect play by Iowa. Hough has to respect the possibility that Stirtz might drive. Condon has to stay near the rim if Stirtz drives. So when he kicks, Condon has to close out from underneath.
Florida, meanwhile, did not have a perfect play.

Yep. And that Stirtz was the guy who caught it and they had faith in Folgueiras to make the shot.
Because anyone in the frontcourt has to worry about whatever Stirtz decides. So the shot was going to be a clean look.

@Dayday_Martin It’s a ploy to get more mediocre power conference teams in the main field.
The coaches always think this will help them keep their jobs, but people aren’t dumb. They just adjust expectations.
