🚀 Dev Update 21: Ship Parts & Customization
We focused on enhancing both visual fidelity and performance optimization for two of our core ship classes: IronClad and Harbinger.
Here's everything we’ve rolled out 👇
1. Weapon Modeling
We completed high-poly and low-poly weapon models for both ships.
Each weapon asset has been fully UV-unwrapped and textured, ensuring they’re ready for clean integration into gameplay with zero post-processing needed.
2. Texture Variants
Customization takes center stage with fresh skin variants:
♦️IronClad now sports Blue-Orange, White-Violet, and Green themes
♦️ Harbinger has multiple vibrant textures — all optimized using a unified material strategy for performance
These additions allow players to better personalize their ship aesthetics without impacting FPS.
3. Performance Optimization
Efficiency meets beauty.
♦️Polycount has been reduced from 240K → 93K, significantly lowering runtime strain
♦️Materials used per model have been consolidated from 7 → 3, reducing draw calls and boosting framerate stability
This ensures smoother performance during large-scale battles and faster asset loads across devices.
4. In-Game Testing
All models and textures were successfully imported and tested in-game.
We ran fidelity checks under live gameplay conditions to validate:
♦️Visual consistency
♦️Shader responsiveness
♦️No framerate dips under combat loads
Everything passed.
