I was brought up with a firm belief that there are no free lunches in life. Then how could I ever believe that it is possible to get 'free' flights & hotel stays? Well, here are a few things that changed my perception about credit cards that I think everyone should know. 👉🏼 Credit card companies earn mostly from the sellers, not the buyers, but only if you pay your card bill in full, and on time. 👉🏼 The 2% - 3% fee that is paid by the seller to the credit card companies is already built into their selling price. If you are not using a credit card, you are already paying that much extra. 👉🏼 Who funds the great credit card rewards? Well, I was of the firm belief that ultimately it has to come out of my own pocket only. To a small extent that is true, but it is not that straightforward. However, you should know that if you - 🔹 ... pay the full bill, on time 🔹 ... buy only what you would have bought anyways 🔹 ... buy at a good price .... then you are the winner in this game, and your own contribution in the rewards you earned is minimal. This is also true that as more & more people understand this, and start using credit cards correctly, the overall credit card returns will go down. All the above, in a nutshell, is the credit card game. Use your credit card like a debit card (except ATM withdrawals), and you can win!
