Apple ha presentado la patente US20230225659A1 que describe auriculares capaces de medir señales biológicas desde el interior y alrededor del oído, incluyendo electroencefalografía (EEG) para monitorear la actividad eléctrica cerebral, junto con otras señales como el movimiento muscular, el movimiento ocular y la frecuencia cardíaca. La patente explica que colocar electrodos en o cerca del oído externo permite lecturas más precisas con menor visibilidad y movimiento del dispositivo, lo que genera preocupaciones sobre cuántos datos podrían recopilar estos dispositivos y cuán poderosa podría llegar a ser esta tecnología.
