Society is too focused on healthy or death but ignores everything in between. With chronic illness you don't want to lose the things you still can do. And when you're like me bedridden and in much physical discomfort (understatement) you can't imagine becoming even more severe.

Learned helplessness is often just accurate pattern recognition.

@TheWorkDogma Yes! Positive Thinking is a last resort— a survival mechanism to get you through. And I don’t actually think there’s anything wrong or bad about using a survival mechanism when you need one. But thinking critically and realistically is for when concrete results are within reach.
