Many confuse..but that Pracheta shlok which is something like..प्रचेतसः दशमः पुत्रो.. is from later recensions, not from the original. The original begins with a summary where Valmiki ji asks Narada Abt who's a ideal man..‘कोन्वस्मिन् लोके…’, not with Valmiki Ji's genealogy.

@Uchiha__30 @Aadii009 Ramayana 's mangala shloka literally mentions him as the son of Prachetas. There is no evidence to suggest he was a tribal either. Just because a person lives in the forest doesn't mean he is a tribal.
