Check out our new paper about developing & implementing a brief medical school curriculum on opioid overdose prevention & response. @JessLynnMoreno developed this fantastic training, which provides general info we believe all med students should have. tandfonline.com/eprint/5KJ5ECP…

@BrittGratreak @jbcarmody @Atef_umd As an MD/PhD student finally applying to residency this year, I was told that my 3 digit step 1 score would still be reported by the NBME. I can’t confirm that since I don’t see what they report but I know my school included the scores on the MSPE letters.

@jbcarmody @Atef_umd Did the NBME ever decide that they wouldn't, though? As the last generation with a numerical Step 1 score (and MD/PhD student so likely the last one to roll through the Match) I always figured they would report and I would be sent through the old algorithms like a deli slicer.

In 2022, the COMLEX Level 1 exam went pass-fail, and the NBOME stopped reporting 3-digit exam scores. But in 2024, the NBOME started reporting them again… by accidentally releasing them to residency programs in Residency CAS.

Character limits prevented me including hobbies but tbh, I just wanted to introduce my cats, who are responsible any of my potential successes to date! Our current feline supervisors are Sophia, Emma, & Bella. They love the limelight & Emma even has her own following on TikTok!

@mackrophage_ I’m very grateful to see someone whose life represents my current experiences rather than all the people who have a perfect and complete ERAS already! Good luck getting everything together and completed!

Does anyone have lab policy for independent projects for undergraduates/volunteer RAs that they can share? I am trying to form a well-articulated policy for my lab and would love something to build off of.

Now, the new 2024 CDC guidelines advise clinicians to counsel patients on pain management during IUD insertions. It's rewarding to have played a part in this progress! Grateful to see the recognition this issue deserves and excited to continue advocating for women's health!

Folks who have completed or are currently doing their PhD: If you were to have received a small welcome packet at your desk on Day 1 of your PhD, what would you want it to include? Some ideas: Post-its, a fun pen, highlighters, stapler, candy. What else?

@ntradsteminist I started re-watching ER when I started my step 2 studying and made it through an embarrassing amount of seasons before I took the exam. But, it can’t have been that bad of a choice because I passed and there was at least one exam question I got right that I learned from ER!

Also study hack just watch ER while doing anki and try to answer the pimping questions before the residents and med students or get to the dx first. You’re really watching it for Susie and Mark but you’re still actively studying lmao Also Ross and Carol I need together lol

@jason_ryanmd I really don’t think you’re wrong. As an MD/PhD student who’s been in school a while & took step scored, I’m seeing the trend in how many delay & things definitely changed when it went P/F. I think your estimated % of students delaying sounds correct from what I’ve seen & heard.

Reposting since my institution suggests "For much more clarity it would be best to contact a Professional Tax Preparer, Accountant, or the Internal Revenue Service". 😑 How are other #postdocs reporting F32 income on their taxes?
Dr. Clara G. Zundel 🧠@ClaraZundel

Help! Are NRSA postdoc awardees subject to self employment tax? Or are we exempt from FICA? How is everyone reporting this on taxes? 🤔🤷🏻‍♀️❓⁉️ #NIH #NRSA #taxes #FICA #fellowship

After seeing comments from a physician (who clearly lacks empathy) regarding the tragic loss of a resident who took their own life, I’m here to remind our profession that we absolutely do not and should not continue to pass down the emotional trauma we experienced (1/6)
