Awesome proposal for performance-sensitive Go programs experiencing GC pressure: region-based memory management. Bulk deallocation with a small, clean API while falling back to the global GC for corner cases. The design reminds me the ‘deep modules’ from Philosophy of Software Design. Worth a look: github.com/golang/go/disc… #golang

I'm not sure how I feel about a Physics Nobel to Hopfield/Hinton. Given the state of where we are at, it feels like it deserves a computer engineering Nobel, but that doesn't exist, so we're repurposing another prize?

Bryan is brilliant, but it seems misguided for a hardware company to create a custom query language that no other tool supports. If you don't want SQL you could have used PromQL so it at least works with existing visualization tools. It's not 2010 anymore. Just use SQL.
Bryan Cantrill@bcantrill

When is a new query language necessary? On today's episode, @ahl and I will be joined by our colleague Ben Naecker to discuss OxQL, the DSL we developed for querying metrics in the Oxide rack: rfd.shared.oxide.computer/rfd/0463 Join us today, 5p Pacific: discord.gg/QrcKGTTPrF?eve…

@thockin @bboreham @ThanosMetrics For sure, I feel you! I somehow thought it was more about the "too intrusive changes, not accepting" kind of thing. I def imagine this being very difficult to implement in internal Kube code. If someone would like to help in dev here, what's the most effective place to start? (:
