Today, some of the books that shaped my life—and the lives of so many others—are being challenged by people who disagree with certain ideas or perspectives. And librarians are on the front lines, fighting every day to make the widest possible range of viewpoints, opinions, and ideas available to everyone.

“School choice” is choice for the affluent. “Parent empowerment” is empowerment for the few. “Market competition” is control of the rich. Euphemisms for vouchers are lies. Truth? Your taxes for their religion. Tax benefit for well-to-do. Wealth transfer from poor to rich.

Questions nobody has answered … If public schools are “failing” and private schools are “successful” then why don’t they modify public school requirements to match private schools? No STAAR No financial reporting No accountability system No SPED compliance

If German kids are strong enough to learn about the Holocaust — then American students should be strong enough to learn about slavery and the Native American genocide.

We can’t rely on the grid to hold up when it gets cold. We can’t rely on the grid to hold up when it gets hot. We can’t rely on Greg Abbott to change this. It’s time to vote him out and fix the grid.

Conservative Christians are fully enraged at #studentloanforgiveness, missing the irony that their entire professed religion is based on the idea of a cancelled debt. Way to lose the plot, kids.

What about Americans who already paid off their student loans?

To address the teacher shortage issue, we must address the teacher respect issue in our country. We must stop normalizing providing teachers with inadequate resources to be successful.

I don't look forward to PD week because I hate the group assignments, the condescending tones, the boring topics, and dealing with adults for large amounts of time. These next two weeks will be a challenge 🥺 Please don't try to growth mindset me about any of this.
