@Tolcarne57 @robjoe11 @SamCoatesSky No but individuals do pay vat on their purchases and the poorer you are, the higher proportion of you income is spent (not saved) so this part of the overall tax burden disproportionately impacts the poorest. No?

@benjeff @robjoe11 @SamCoatesSky The source is HMRC and it relates to income tax. Individuals don’t pay corporation tax or VAT on their earnings.

@Tolcarne57 @robjoe11 @SamCoatesSky Hi Dave - genuine question - those tax payment ratios - where are they from? and which taxes are included- just income or are rates, vat etc included? I see so many figures in this area and hard to parse them as a novice.

@robjoe11 @SamCoatesSky The top 1% pay 29% of the tax. 10% pay 60% of the tax. ‘Bashing the rich’ will kill the goose that lays the golden egg.
