Whitney Houston wasn’t the only singer but she was the only singer that had a voice like this and none of them matched her clear voice which made her stand out. She was the standard for the girls and the industry. the girls was being compared to her and that’s a fact and still is.Deborah cox, Tamia,Brandy, Shanice and so on who they all said Whitney inspired them. They shared some similarities with their tones but you can tell some difference between them and Whitney same with Mariah when she first came out. The girls and man wanted to sound like her.Every powerhouse singer shares some similarities the tone and range. Don’t make them the same or the full package. There is a reason why the popular singers like Whitney and Mariah stood out not only cause there hits there delivery powerful hard songs and live vocals and Just because someone might have a similar tone or range don’t mean they could do a song justice or make it go far. Houston first album was slow burner Houston had sung songs with tacky lyrics and songs that was already covered by r&b singers hits so it wasn’t only about what songs she was getting. “ the greatest love of all”was covered by multiple r&b singers before her. Houston clear tone and effortlessly live vocals and performances what made her stood out from singers like Vesta Williams, Miki Howard, Lisa Fischer, Teena Marie, Stephanie mills, Melisa Morgan, Phylis Hyman and Rachelle while they had unique voices too even toni Braxton.
