A new preprint, "Squish jamming" arxiv.org/abs/2404.09773 We realized a model experiment of extremely deformable grains and found a novel fluid-solid transition. In contrast to usual jamming controlled by the number of contacts, our jamming is triggered by the "extent of contact".

Painting a liquid polymer on an upside surface causes an array of drops to form. Painting successive layers after the previous ones have set causes the drops to grow into flexible fingers. The rubbery structures could prove useful in soft robotics. go.aps.org/3UGiwzP
