ADVENTURES IN KITCHEN
Today I follow the 1st recipe FOR CROISSANTS DOUGH from the book of Rene Bernard “FRENCH CROISSANT COOKBOOK”.
I respected the quantities for “half quantities” dough. The dough was too dense, I added 2 more TBSP of warm water to it. Since it was a cold day here, the dough did not rise after
1:30 hour . I placed it on the stove afterwards, next to an electric burner that was on (another 1:15 hour). Do not do that. Fire Danger. It happened to me many years ago.
It had risen some, but not twice, as the recipe claims.

I had enough egg so I did not mix it with water. Also I forgot the step that requires to keep them 1 hour after basting them with egg. I place them in the oven right away.
I thought the temperature suggested was too high, so I set the oven at 380 deg F. They were done in 35 minutes.
They look like a caricature of what a croissant should be, but taste good, surprinsingly a bit sweet. I should not have kept them in the oven more than 25 minutes.

@Green22229Pool "Effort doesn’t always lead to success". So true, but it is hard to stop hoping. The smart thing is to not persevere. Because hard work is overrated.

🦢: When the partner of a Swan dies, or goes missing, the surviving swan often goes through a noticeable period of mourning. This can include withdrawing from the flock, staying near the site of their partner’s death, reduced activity, and calling for their mate.
Some surviving swans, particularly older ones, may remain single for a long time or for the rest of their lives, especially if they are male. The truth is, many creatures share far more with us than just planet earth.

In a dark legend from 6th-century Lombard history.
After defeating the Gepids, King Alboin killed their king, Cunimund, and forced the king's daughter, Rosamund, to marry him.
During a victory banquet in Verona, Alboin reached a peak of cruelty: he fashioned a drinking cup from Cunimund’s skull and forced Rosamund to “drink with her father.”
The image captures her silent, vengeful humiliation.
This atrocity backfired; Rosamund later orchestrated Alboin's assassination in 572 AD, successfully avenging her father and her people.
