My time in academia will come to an end in two weeks. After 8+ years at @QUT, in September I will start a new journey as a Field Service Engineer with @thermofisher based in Brisbane. I'm incredibly excited!

@chrashwood @Popher I tend to bypass those "what should I buy" threads, usually they don't have a budget or a region (maybe it is assumed US), so it's not helpful. Where I can offer vendor agnostic advice, I do.

You gave me a tonne of knowledge/ideas about laser-interfaced MS that must have set something in motion…

@sarah_e_hancock A few years ago we had ours spring a leak around the base the morning I was heading overseas. Very bad timing!

So my hot water tank decided to catastrophically fail at 3 am 😩. Hopefully I can get it replaced in the next 2 days before I jump on a plane to IMSC. Otherwise I don't think my husband would be too happy to have the kids on his own with no hot water next week.

@the_ion_doctor In my grant applications (ARC in Australia) we have a strict page limit on the project description. I still include the publication title despite the extra space because it quickly shows if the paper is actually relevant!

Now that no one prints paper copies of journals any more, can we please do away with journal name abbreviations? And worse, references without paper titles
