Has anyone ever compiled a canon or compleat compendium of Western literature? Or a chronological collection with contemporary histories/additions. I've found some online--UChicago did one--but they're always missing obviously important titles. I guess it would include too many.

This is true regardless of era and its why I laugh at all the small souls who believe that a King or true executive is "evil" when the truth is a Monarch rules in the interest of the nation as it is *his*, where Republics are rented by Plutocrats or foreign governments for personal interests which are often at the expense of the nation. There are no safeguards against Plutocracy in a Republic, you are relying off of purely the *hope* that citizens will care enough to sacrifice everything for a point of honor they dont personally benefit from. There are such people who care like that, people such as myself and most veterans, but this is a tiny portion of the population that has no real power and whose values which were inculcated into us are being quickly eroded/forgotten with each passing generation. Most citizens are pieces of shit that only care about their petty lives. There is no interest for Plutocrats to teach the citizen body the sacred values of Patriotism etc.. Why would they? It gets in the way of their money interests. They don't care about the state, nation, history, spiritual mission of the polity. They are merchants who would sell their family out for a quick buck. Such men do not rule, the men who must rule are those that live their lives in the service of something higher than money and personal gain. You won't ever find that in a Republic (Venice was undone bc of Fourth Crusade etc., Switzerland never did anything great and was ass fucked by the US because we threatened their banks (pussy)). No, Republics are always the rule by the Merchant elites who sell their country out, which leads to them degenerating into a Democracy. Monarchy is the only form of robust government exercised in the interest of the nation itself.

The problem with Republics is that it is an inherently corrupt/corrupting polity form where the lack of unity of authority causes there to be no cohesion of focus and therefore leads to factions within and without to use the state that are adverse to the nation.
