📝 Weekly Oni Memo #37 The protagonist of this game, Miyamoto Musashi, is a man who will use anything at his disposal, even his surroundings, to secure victory. When fighting in a traditional Japanese room, he might tear up the tatami mats beneath him and use them to block attacks or hurl at his enemies. Yet despite his willingness to use whatever means are necessary, Musashi believes that relying on the “Power of Oni” is the wrong path and is determined to cast off his gauntlets. At first this may seem contradictory. However, for Musashi, who seeks to master the way of the sword through his own refined strength, his pride will not allow him to depend on the power of Oni. Even though he appears to use anything to win, there is one line he will never cross: he must win through his own strength. @Attackdabacklog Hi, do you know Onimusha way of the sword release date?

I heard a while ago that Onimusha was being worked on for Switch 2. Now been told it was in early development 6 months ago & so whilst it's seemingly coming, the development process was described to me as challenging. Capcom are wizards, so I'm hopeful 🫶

Unironically a Resident Evil game set in Egypt with Sheva Alomar in it and BOWs based off Egyptian folklore is one of the harder hitting fan suggestions I've seen tossed around for a Resident Evil game. I'd honestly love that, but of course to see whatever Capcom chooses.

(1/3) You kinda' said what I would've said. People said the exact same thing about Resident Evil 4 being remade, but RE:4 turned out pretty great imo, & I think undoubtedly did grow RE & reach new audiences. I think as long as Capcom keeps the Remake of REmake 1 available on

@vlad_redfield Some stuff will be greatly reimagined, some quite different, but nothing cut in the traditional sense.

@AestheticGamer1 When Capcom does a meeting for Onimusha or other IP like Devil may cry? Same timing?

Capcom have meetings every 5 years for their big IPs, Resident Evil's have been in 2017 & 2022, next one in 2027. But no way in Hell are they planning to stop Resident Evil at present. Full steam ahead, if anything.

Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake is being directed by Kazunori Kadoi & Yasuhiro Anpo, same duo who directed Resident Evil: 2 Remake & Resident Evil: 4 Remake.

Yeee, it's serviceable to Resident Evil Requiem's design, but I think especially in the wake of the Silent Hill revival entries, the puzzles in modern RE games come off as almost nothing, kinda sandpapered down to momentary distractions.
