Oh boy, would I like to see the post-morten for this Crowdstrike issue! To go through the entire release process, on a driver level change, with something so apparently easy to hit, without anything having blocked it... I have so many questions!

So yeah, if you try to invest $500,000.00 in crypto, a good bank is going to quickly make sure that you are not being scammed. That anti-fraud department works for you. They serve you. That is a good thing.

🤔Why do people get so mad that traditional finance employs human beings to make sure that your money is not being stolen? After that call, I'm sure that the transfer went through. There was $3.94 billion worth of crypto investment fraud in 2023. Billion!
Alex Miller@alexlmiller

Got a call from Chase's fraud team today because they were worried we were sending 500k to Coinbase. Them: "who told you about this crypto currency, is someone pressuring you to buy something quickly?" Me: "uh, we're a crypto company....."

Very excited to finally come out of stealth and share this with the world. We started Nile with a question: Why is building SaaS so challenging? Why does it take 5x more engineers to build Confluent Cloud than it does to build Apache Kafka? We spent the last 2 years talking to SaaS companies and iterating on approaches and solutions. We became convinced that many of the SaaS problems are in the data layers - and that most DBs don't do a good enough job with SaaS. Why? Because they are not aware of the tenants. Or customers. The most significant bit in a SaaS offering. And once we built Nile and made Postgres aware of tenants, we found ourselves with an endless list of problems we could solve. Everyone who looks at our website says, "You are solving the world." Damn right, we do. This is just V0. We are just getting started. And we'd love to have you on board.
Nile@niledatabase

⚡️We are finally excited to publicly launch today! Nile is serverless Postgres database for modern SaaS thenile.dev Nile virtualizes tenants into the database to provide 1. Tenant isolation and per-tenant backups 2. Drop-in organization and user management 3. Global tenant placement 4. Tenant-aware vector embeddings 5. Instant internal customer dashboards 6. Effortless elasticity

After moving to FL, reaching out to friends still in CA, about them being safe from hurricanes, was definitely not on my bingo card, for any year...

I've been nodding in silent agreement for years, every time @QuinnyPig would jab at AWS's network egress costs catching you by surprise! Today, I finally discovered GCP's Network Topology tool! Does AWS have anything similar?

Being able to visualize egress traffic, across instances, zones and regions, as a graph, with callouts to biggest offenders and then able to jump into further metrics, was just such a surprisingly smooth debugging experience…

There's a lot of news about companies laying off or doing hiring freezes. Having talked with recruiters in private, there are still many more companies growing & hiring though. Drop your company's name and a link to jobs site below if you're actively hiring in tech. 👇
