@_EllieNuck_ @justBlakePrice Target your ire at Petey, but it's a waste. Direct it at 43 for pulling a Tkachuk. Petey playing like a God would not have made 43 stay. I think that's clear now. So mgmt threw a hail mary to keep 43. Failed, now its a rebuild, which would have been the case regardless.

@_EllieNuck_ @justBlakePrice The point I'm making is we would be in the same spot today even if this guy was the best in the room, inspirational and scoring 100 per season. In context of team build, the engine was Hughes. Once he decided to leave, everything else doesn't matter. This isn't built around ep40.

@_EllieNuck_ @justBlakePrice That's fair. I just think there's too much emphasis on ep40. Always was. Bo vs Miller, keep Bo, Miller vs Petey, sign this guy, trade that guy, goalies... It is all moot if Hughes was pulling a Tkachuk regardless. Maybe they would have had 2 yr window instead of 1, but that's it.

Theyve been coddling ep40 for yrs, quinn wasnt the 1st we lost due to it.

@passittobulis Not really. They are good players with value. It is sensible to take that gamble and if it doesn't work out, you can move those talented and valuable players out. NTCs can be irrelevant when facing a rebuild - those players will opt out with where they are at in their careers.
