SUPERMAN II opened in the UK 45 years ago today. Did you know Gene Hackman did not return to do reshoots after Richard Donner was fired and was replaced by Richard Lester. Other scenes shot by Lester that required Lex Luthor used a look-a-like and a voice impersonator.

Condorman (1981) is fascinating. Disney attempted a James Bond/superhero rival starring Michael Crawford (yes, Frank Spencer from Some Mothers Do ’Ave ’Em). It didn't fly, but it has moments of brilliance: Henry Mancini's score, the locations, Oliver Reed, and this Porsche chase

What Paul built in the form of the Adelphi was a cultural icon, not just on a back street of Hull but across the whole music sector. An incredible legacy he leaves behind. My condolences to his family and friends.
