The primary reason why the sex offender and pedophile stuff didn’t stick is because Drake sued. He forced UMG and other corporations to stop boosting the lie the way they were pre-lawsuit. Had he not sued and the statute of limitations passed (1 year), Drake would’ve been stuck with that on his jacket. It would’ve been “well if it’s not true, why didn’t you sue?”
