BYU Civil Engineering Students Samantha Lau, Max Barnes, and Christian Lundskog had the opportunity to be invited and compete at the ASCE National Blue Sky Competition. They proposed a new student competition idea to ASCE officials along with 7 other schools, and got 2nd overall

The first Regional Conference on Environmental Modeling and Software( iEMSs) in Nanjing China last week was a whopping success. It was largely organized by Professor Min Chen under the direction of BYU CEEn Professor Dan Ames, President of iEMSs.

The American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) had their closing social last night with a presentation about the 150th Anniversary of the Golden Spike and the Transcontinental Railroad by Union Pacific. There will be lots of events in Utah in May!

Last night the ASCE flag football team won the intramural flag football championship!

CEEn professor Keving Franke was selected by the deans to receive an Engineering Faculty Development Fellowship from the the Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering. This selection was in recognition of Dr. Franke's record of performance in all areas of faculty responsibility.

CEEn professor, Grant Schultz, received the ITE Utah Chapter Educator of the Year Award for 2018 this last week 👏🏻 Along with Professor Schultz’s award, one of his former students, Natalia Brown, received the Fresh Face of Engineering Award for 2018.

Senior capstone students traveled to the Dominican Republic this weekend with CEEn professors Norm Jones, Jim Nelson and their wives. The students enjoyed a few days of fun before the real work began!

Dr. Schultz and several current and former students spent the week sharing research and learning more about the future of transportation at the 98th Annual Meeting in the Transportation Research Board (TRB) in Washington, D.C..
