@CeeVee3YT You ain't lying. He is a good play caller but his scheme imo sucks. Slow power edges and relying on fast small DTs isn't the best formula. Heck it really hasn't worked out for him ever. But his DB scheme I love though

@camgamhende Yeah I agree. I’m not sure why DA likes his dlinemen big and slow. That’s why QBs like Malik Willis and Tyler Huntley were running circles around us.

@CeeVee3YT I mean I'd love that too. Heck id love a lot of things. My defensive philosophy doesn't match DA. I'd have to massive DTs like dex and speed rushers on edge. But that's my style. DA is reversed 🤷🏾

Drafting and developing your own isn’t so simple though. That’s why blockbuster trades happen multiple times a year every year.
Trust me id love to draft our own Dexter Lawrence instead but how likely is it that we can do that with a late 1st and late 2nd round picks? We’d be hoping and praying for a gem to fall to us.
I’m also not completely sold on Dennis Allen being able to develop elite defensive players when he never really did so in New Orleans. His best work was Von Miller but that was with the 2nd overall pick and 15 years ago.

@CeeVee3YT Well he is a nose guard stuffer with pass rushing upside. His team was one of the worst at stopping the run while he also didn't perform up to his norm. He is 29 which isn't bad but not really worth it. But I'm like Poles. I believe in drafting and develop your own

What am I cherry picking? I’m just listing the common denominator from the last 7 SB winners and how it would greatly benefit our biggest positional weakness to make this trade.
Also this conversation started in response to you saying Dexter is declining, which isn’t necessarily true unless his elbow injury is degenerative, which nothing has been evident that it is.

@CeeVee3YT It's more of if your going to compare situations let's not cherry pick them. You want the bears to follow in the model you have found however one thing isn't exactly the same. Only 1 team traded for their DT. The rest drafted theirs. So I'm just comparing

Seahawks traded for Leonard Williams.
Rams traded 2 firsts for Stafford.
Donald, Vea, Carter, and Davis were all drafted in the top 13 of their class. We don’t have that pick.
It doesn’t matter who you acquire that talent, all it matters is that you have em. The price of acquiring them and keeping them is outweighed by the fact that they are game wreckers and allow for weaknesses at other positions to exist.
Thats why the Packers were still a top 3 defense with a healthy Micah Parsons while having a very weak secondary.

Gonna be the minority here but I’d take Dexter Lawrence and here’s why: 1) He’d be much cheaper to trade for and his cap hit isn’t as much. 2) The last FIVE Super Bowl winning defenses did not have an elite edge rusher but they ALL had elite DT(s): 2025 - Leonard Williams/Byron Murphy 2024 - Carter/Davis/Williams 2023/2022/2019 - Chris Jones 2021 - Aaron Donald 2020 - Vita Vea The best edge rusher to win a ring since 2019 is arguably JPP (Buccs), Von Miller in 2021, or Josh Sweat in 2024. None of whom were elite in those years. Interior pressure is not even the new standard, it’s now the new REQUIREMENT to building a Super Bowl winning defense. Give me the more important dline position for less cost and pair Sexy Dexy with a rookie DT with whatever first pick we end up with.

The #Bears are the most logical team for this.
They have the Bills 2nd from the DJ Moore trade and have a glaring need at DT.
