if there is an actual IC token standard that uses IC technology such as certified variables to verify the response of the queries on the client side, then maybe we would consider that a real IC token standard worth switching to. but ICRC is not worth switching for

For those asking the differences between DIP20 and ICRC. Here you go. As you can clearly see, there’s not many. And the one change they did make we feel makes it a way worse standard (see tweet below).

@lastmjs @BobBodily @theamericanspr1 the Principal + subacount 0 is similar to an address & other chains can use IC with subaccount 0, but it's a redundant layer of complexity which is not really needed at the app layer. it will also confuse people coming from other chains and further complicate things in the future

The sooner the rest of the ecosystem realizes this, and helps effect the changes needed rather than fighting the ones trying to make them happen. The sooner the IC succeeds. It’s that simple

Builders/devs using social consensus decide things like token standards. Not NNS votes. The market will ultimately decide. We will add support for ICRC if it proves itself and gains adoption. But we are still all in on DIP20. And encourage other builders to continue using it

@BobBodily The fact is tho that builders/developers are ultimately the ones who are going decide which token standard wins. And we doubt they have any meaningful representation in that vote, so that NNS vote doesn’t really mean anything. DIP20 is still the better option as of today

@nftanvil Lol you have absolutely 0 idea what you are talking about. Plug is moving to a fully canister based wallet solution leveraging threshold signatures and outbound http calls to work for any chain. And it will use @IdentityMaxis and/or @Astrox_Network under the hood.
