@yongfook Perhaps true for knowledge workers. But there are very clear use cases for real-world workers who use their hands all day to perform work that requires knowledge of details (specs, manuals, etc): construction job sites, auto garages, etc. Also, anyone driving a car.

I straight up don't see the use case for a voice activated AI assistant. There are so many scenarios where it's just completely inferior to texting. Nobody wants to hear you clunkily try to book a flight using your voice while you're waiting in line at starbucks.

@JasonrShuman Good thread. Regarding visibility (and social currency now that I think about it), another dimension to consider here is the ability to share the output to others (even outside the company) that includes evidence of how the result was created (public URL, subtle branding, etc).

1/ The viral growth of B2B AI applications is highly predictable. Contagious by Jonah Berger gives you the secret framework that the best consumer founders and VCs have known. Let’s break the framework 👇

Milestone 10,000... Y'all ready? We're now 10 months into launching @fractionaljobs, and last week we hit 10,000 fractional leaders in the network. Last month we did $16,500 revenue, which means more than $10,000 monthly profit too. If you've been following along, in my August update I shared (rather proudly) that we did just $6K revenue. This is a post about how it feels. It feels like I've climbed the first 10,000 rungs of a ladder. (My legs are tired, do you understand the analogy?) When I look down (from the ladder, yes we're still using that analogy), I'm quite proud of what's been accomplished. $10K+ profit means that for the first month in 10 months I've actually made more money than I spent in my personal life (my personal burn rate is about $7K/mo right now). HUGE stress relief. We've referred fractional talent to over 30 startups, most of them backed by names like YC, First Round, South Park Commons, etc. We're building a huge network of incredible fractional leaders, too (70% are Director-level and above). When I look up (yes, ladder analogy still), this is where I can't help but laugh. I cannot believe how much has been accomplished and yet how much further I have to go up this stupid ladder to get anywhere interesting. It's actually unbelievable to me. This is my second startup. It's not like I'm totally naive to how this works. Regardless of how my legs feel, I've climbed so little, in the grand scheme. Do you remember when we'd go to those arcades where we'd play games to win tickets and then take the tickets to the counter to collect our prizes? It feels like I've been CRUSHING the watergun game, the basketball game, and basically every other game. Just raking in the tickets. And then I waltz up to the counter and the guy's like "You have enough tickets for...2, maybe 3 bouncy balls. Which color do you want?" I'm basically trying to communicate this bizarre feeling of being both incredibly proud, and absolutely dumfounded by how much further I need to go. Not complaining. I'm having a great time. Bouncy balls are actually quite fun to play with :) Thanks for following along.

@sweatystartup And golf. The S62 is my everyday watch. And I no longer keep a range finder in my bag.

The best thing around $1k I've bought over the last 3 years: My Tactix 7 Garmin watch with flashlight. I don’t use the smart watch features. But I use the timer every day in sauna / cold plunge, I use it to record heart rate during every workout, while hunting, hiking, etc and I use the flashlight 10 x a day. 10 day battery life is insane. I don't think I’ll ever wear another kind of watch. I thought Garmin would die when the iPhone maps took over their #1 seller. But man they dominate aviation, watches, running, fishing, boating, cycling and so much more. What a comeback.

Today I'm hard launching fractionaljobs.io (bet y'all saw that one coming from a mile away...) 🧨 Fractional Jobs is the job board for fractional work. We help senior talent become successful fractional employees, and we help companies reach and recruit that senior talent directly. The Playbooks are ready now, and many more coming. Learn about how to break into the fractional world. The jobs are already coming too. Some are live now, many others will be going live over the next month across 10 major fractional job functions. If you're a fractional employee, OR fractional-curious, I'd love to get you involved in this thing I'm building. For job alerts, subscribe to the newsletter or follow us on Linkedin or Twitter. If you want to chat about the fractional world, DM me. I'm here to help. If you're interested in hiring for a fractional role, please DM too. You'll turn me into the cheapest recruiter the world has ever seen. Let's do this! 💪

@theSamParr A lot of great options in Connecticut. You'll need to look away from the coast to get that much acreage. Ridgefield, Litchfield, etc are options to start.

My youngest son got into the mini fridge and setup his own tailgate with mom. My oldest is enjoying the actual tailgate with dad. Go dawgs!

@startstorms @heyemmahey @buildbookhq Happy to help! In general, the hardest part of any project like this is managing expectations. Why do things take so long, why do they cost this much, what is going to happen next, how close are we to the finish line, etc.
