Not Toronto Port Authority recognizing the negative impact their airport operations have on housing on the East Waterfront. Why do they want to make this far worse with jets? #topoli

🚨 Saudi Arabia and Kuwait Both Cut U.S. Base Access, Forcing Pause of Project Freedom Trump’s abrupt pause of “Project Freedom” came after backlash from key Gulf allies led by Saudi Arabia, for being blindsided by the operation’s announcement, according to NBC News. Drop Site’s Ryan Grim later reported that a U.S. administration official confirmed Kuwait also cut off access, basing, and overflight “ABO” access. NBC reports Saudi Arabia suspended U.S. access to Prince Sultan Airbase and Saudi airspace after Trump announced the operation without properly coordinating with Gulf allies. A call between Trump and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reportedly failed to resolve the dispute. Qatar was contacted only after the operation had already begun, while Oman was not coordinated with until after Trump’s announcement. Without Saudi and Kuwaiti airspace, U.S. aircraft could not provide the defensive umbrella needed to protect ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz, making the pause effectively unavoidable. “Water pressure collapsed. Sinks don’t run. Toilets won’t refill. Homes shake nonstop. Power outages are common” Yet almost 1 in 3 people in the UK would support the construction of an AI data centre in their local area. How do these people come to be so ignorant and naive?!

Canada’s silence at the UN exposes a buried history of slavery at home. Abstaining on a recent United Nations reparations vote cannot erase Canada's role in two centuries of slavery — or the structural disparities that still persist today. ricochet.media/justice/canada…

After all schools in the Gaza Strip were destroyed, high school students are taking their exams on the seashore without proper desks or comfortable seating. A powerful testament to their determination to pursue education, even in the face of genocide.

Please take a minute to listen very carefully to this question and response re: definition of antisemitism.
Yuen Pau Woo@yuenpauwoo

Kudos to the Senate Human Rights Committee for highlighting the persistent danger of #antisemitism & the real fears of Jewish Canadians. I asked chair @PauletteSenior1 if the committee can assure Canadians it is NOT antisemitic to call out 🇮🇱 for genocide, apartheid & war crimes

To say that Trump underestimated Iran is an understatement. The Israelis sold him - and he ended up believing - a narrative that portrayed Iran as so weak that the war would be won within 4 days. 60 plus days later, Trump is still stuck in the mess Israel sold him.

I exposed at length last week the deliberately unworkable & maximalist disarmament proposal Mladenov delivered to Hamas in Cairo with a clear threat of Israel resuming the war if they don't accept it unconditionally. The proposal is meant to solicit a rejection to give cover to Israel's continued genocide & absolve it of all its responsibilities under Trump's "Peace Plan". Britain, Ireland, Saudi Arabia & Egypt had all pushed for a more realistic decommissioning framework in November 2025 that Hamas remains willing to engage with. It's modelled after Northern Ireland where disarmament is the outcome of peace rather than a prerequisite. The Mladenov proposal, however, demands Hamas & all Palestinian factions hand over every single rifle, rocket, tunnel, RPG & piece equipment before any Israeli withdrawal at all. Reconstruction & Israel's withdrawal are deferred to after 250 days & Israel would still keep 20% of Gaza indefinitely. Read here: 972mag.com/gaza-disarmame…

⚡️NEW: A document obtained by The Times of Israel shows the US-led “Board of Peace” told Gaza technocratic committee officials that Israel would no longer be expected to uphold key ceasefire commitments if Hamas refuses the proposed disarmament framework. The letter, signed by former UN envoy Nickolay Mladenov and senior US official Aryeh Lightstone, and sent during the week of April 5 to Ali Shaath, the commissioner of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), the technocratic body meant to replace Hamas in governing Gaza, states Israel’s obligations to halt attacks, allow large-scale aid entry, reopen Rafah Crossing, and withdraw forces to the agreed “Yellow Line” would become “null and void” if Hamas does not accept terms on handing over its weapons. “Failure by Hamas to accept the framework within a reasonable timeframe, as determined by the Board of Peace and after consultation with the parties, shall render such commitments null and void,” the letter says. The document also appears to acknowledge Israel had not fully implemented parts of the October 2025 ceasefire, going through eight key provisions in a humanitarian annex tied to the agreement, including: ➤ Suspending “all military operations,” including airstrikes and artillery attacks ➤ Allowing 4,200 humanitarian aid trucks into Gaza each week ➤ Fully reopening the Rafah Crossing ➤ Withdrawing Israeli forces back to the agreed “Yellow Line” ➤ Allowing shelter materials and medical supplies into Gaza ➤ Repairing critical infrastructure in the Strip Hamas has consistently held that discussions about weapons cannot proceed until Israel fulfills requirements of phase one of the agreement. Full report below.

The reason any of us know about the 1921 Tulsa Massacre is due to decades of work by many people. No one is more responsible than Don Ross: As a high school student, in 1971, he began documenting oral histories and other accounts of the destruction of Black Wall Street. He was lead organizer of public events commemorating the 75 anniversary, in 1996, which created the first memorial in Greenwood. He authored and championed the legislation creating a state commission to reinvestigate what happened - the first formal review by any agency. tulsaflyer.org/2026/05/05/new…

Content warning: distressing scenes of violence Tonight Amnesty have awarded Channel 4 News @channel4news Best Broadcast Feature at the Amnesty Media Awards 2026 for this powerful report. This feature follows the story of Saeed al-Amour, a Palestinian farmer, whose leg was amputated after being shot by illegal settlers while he tended to his olive groves in the occupied West Bank’s Masafer Yatta. Just four days ago, Saeed was arrested and detained by Israeli forces after another confrontation with settlers on his land. This is what apartheid looks like. Saeed’s story is the story of millions of Palestinians across the occupied West Bank: state-backed settler attacks, home demolitions, and a legal system that penalises Palestinians while shielding Israeli settlers from accountability. Israel is rapidly expanding settlements across the occupied West Bank. But it is going underreported. It is vital that journalists continue to expose human rights abuses.

On using 'Hamas-run' and the language of genocide denial "That term wasn’t widely used until the Ahli hospital bombing of October 17th, when the ADL basically told everyone to use it. In fact from October 7 to October 17, it was not used once on CNN and MSNBC, and then they proceeded to use it hundreds of times over the next few months. They needed to create a soft genocide denial. If you say Hamas-run and then you list off 200 or 300 dead for that day, liberals can just go, 'eh, it’s probably just a bunch of terrorist propaganda.'" Adam Johnson (@adamjohnsonCHI) on his research and documentation of how the term 'Hamas-run' is used during Israel's US-funded Gaza genocide. Media/Wars Ep4 youtube.com/watch?v=HDqfUR…
