@hyperfixatednya @Veronicatrash13 I’m talking about how to truly make her character impactful, it’s not enough to change her own backstory but to show that impact on Ilya’s arc. And yes, maybe people are misogynistic but it’s also possible that the relationship did not get the development it deserved.

Svetlana Vetrova is a real character who exists, I swear I didn't dream her up!

@hyperfixatednya @Veronicatrash13 I understand that. But what I mean, even in the show’s context while Svetlana’s role was changed, Ilya’s arc wasn’t really adapted to reflect that show!Ilya has more actually more support than book!Ilya. Like his spirals still happen the same way as in the book.

So while her role was changed in the show, the rest of the book was adapted without those major changes so Ilya’s emotional anchor is still Shane and his dynamic with Svetlana is not that well embedded in the narrative
