[Coloring the Future of AI - 1/16] Software is Eating the World, and AI is Changing the Menu A few weeks ago, I presented a masterclass on Artificial Intelligence at the Corporate Innovation Summit, an invite-only event preceding the Lisbon Web Summit 2023. The presentation was prepared based on an article I wrote last March for the MIT Sloan Management Review, titled: "Software is Eating the World, and AI is Changing the Menu - An Artificial Intelligence's Odyssey through Ethical Challenges and Societal Transformation", enriched with additional content and reflections. The event was held at the magnificent Library of the Academy of Sciences of Lisbon, founded in 1779. Inspired by an environment echoing history, art, and science, I created a unique set of AI visuals. Each idea presented was illustrated with an AI-generated digital artwork, inspired by painting masterpieces, and created through brainstorming sessions involving myself, ChatGPT, and MidJourney. Special thanks to Andre Arruda for the captioning and touch-ups. The reception was very positive, and many colleagues suggested that I make the content public. Consequently, I have decided to create this series named 'Coloring the Future of AI', consisting of sixteen posts, released about two per week. I created the cover artwork for this series, inspired by the emotional intensity of Edvard Munch's masterpiece 'The Scream', illustrating that the rapid pace of technological advancement might trigger a collective 'Head for the Hills' sentiment of urgency and fear regarding the potential consequences of artificial intelligence on society.
