@mubiuk Yup, last night's "Leaves in 11 days" banner pushed me over the edge. What a treat (somehow never seen it before).

Entirely too much movement at breakfast. Watch PHANTOM THREAD before it leaves in 10 days.

@thomasforth Seems that is happening in Birmingham too: our city centre road has constantly ticketed cars despite really clear signage, I asked the Civil Enforcement Officers why and they said that’s exactly what people are doing: choosing to get the fine since it’s cheaper than the car park

@Feltip1982 So little green space for us living in the city centre: Pigeon Park, St Paul’s JQ, Peace Park, Sunset Park: none great. Though I walked ~50min to the wonderful Cannon Hill Park twice last year!

@OldStationSt Couple of days ago, walking back from the markets, met a bunch of very confused lads outside The Crown incredulous that it wasn't a functioning pub: all they wanted was to walk out of the station and get a pint! Told them the owners don't care and directed them elsewhere.

Save Station Street, Birmingham
Two years ago today the predatory developer Glenbrook Property closed what was the UK’s oldest working cinema. Birmingham’s 116yr old The Electric. Can anyone running Birmingham honestly look themselves in the mirror and say they’ve done enough to protect Brum and Brummies here?

Today is the first day of meteorological spring, which means seeds are being planted. These are ready to go on the balcony as well as these wild flowers that I sprinkled along the edge of Perry Barr Village grounds. Great for our insects.

@ReissOmari I swear half the time it *does* say something very close to what you intended, you press send and then mere nano seconds before it detects your finger it "helpfully" transmogrifies it into something it thinks you really meant, at which point its too late. Grr.

Oh what are we ruining Centenary Square with now? 😩🫩 Surely the money earned from renting this space out shouldn’t towards fixing the fountains that haven’t been on for what, 3 years?

@ReissOmari Had a closer look on StreeView, and I'd imagine this is someone shooting off the A38 then swerving into the building to avoid hitting the tail end of the queue for the pagoda roundabout. Bonkers.

@LATrash @BiteYourBrum Had a closer look: this is kindof the _next_ slip road leading up past the Alex and towards the roundabout (not the main drag heading underneath). Both are still 30mph though. Hmm.

@ReissOmari I think they’re delaying on purpose - they want traffic out of Brum city centre. Remember there considering closing the Queensways too.

@ReissOmari Wow I had no idea the one just off Victoria Square was closing. I thought the TGJones one was additional (we loved that it was open on a Sunday too). Blimey, that's gonna be a nightmare.

@ReissOmari Really boring. And not a balcony in sight (as usual for these new builds) – my personal bugbear (so glad our 2003-build building has balconies).

NASA Mars
NASA Mars@NASAMars·
Thanks to @POTUS’ leadership, the exploration of Mars is no longer a distant hope, it’s a national objective. One year into his second term, President Trump’s national space policy has provided a clear vision for American leadership in space, and has sharpened our focus on the science, technology, and capabilities needed to reach the Red Planet, like nuclear propulsion and surface power. With that direction, NASA teams are moving with purpose to turn today’s innovation into tomorrow’s next giant leap.

@Chucho_Q Last August a friend and I rendezvoused in Oxford to catch one of the few preview screenings in the UK of "Young Hearts": me an an hour by train from one direction, him 2 hours by car from another.

@thomasforth We holidayed in Stuttgart in 2012 just as the project – and protests – were starting, and have been eagerly following along on YouTube since. Keen to go back to see it once it’s finally finished.

As expected quite a few replies about how delayed, controversial, and overbudget this investment has been and Dear Germans, from North England, you have no idea. None at all. It exists. We have built nothing.

Stuttgart's new underground through station, alleviating huge pressures on the German rail network, should hopefully open this year. Looks amazing.
