My Grandad (82 at the time) was one of the extras in the Baryonyx swimming pool video I worked on for Dinotracker. He was a fan of Jurassic even going with me to see Dominion at the very same cinema I first saw the original Jurassic Park at back in 1993. I cannot express how much I miss him.

Some of the images I edited together for Fallen Kingdom and Dominions marketing campaigns. It was really fun bringing these to life and showing events from new perspectives.

Going through my archives I found the prop Nublar map I made we scanned for Jurassic Worlds Masrani Global viral site.

This MEGARAPTOR website is going to be a living breathing hub. Updates will be made in the build up to the release which should be fun to explore. Considering this relates to BTTF I’d like to respectfully rope @LeDoctor into this post which highlights a key issue with Jurassic Rebirth which needs addressing during the production of the next movie, to stop a growing issue in the handling of these films. I hope this message isn’t just brushed away but taken serious because ‘the devils in the details’. Jurassic requires a coherent timeline consultant, because the details presented in Rebirth are all over the place which does create a widening in the rift between fans and their attachment to the IP. This is not simply some nerdy rant, but a fundamental issue which will hurt the IP on a deep level if not properly addressed going forward. Jurassic is known for being fun and appealing to a wide variety of audiences, but one of the major pillars in the viewership are those who care for the details who continue the legacy on through their sheer love of the lore. If they loose interest the dominos will fall, as the care will be replaced with apathy. I’m seeing it happen since the release of Rebirth. To sum up the specific issue at hand here revolves around how Rebirth fits into the wider lore: Problem no. 1 The island is abandoned after D.rex escapes “17 years before” the main events of the movie, which is set in either 2025 or 2027 depending on who you talk to. Problem no.2 So island is abandoned around, or in 2010, yet on set props (seen in the film) with BTTF 18th anniversary places the abandonment of the island in 2003; meaning the plot of Rebirth happens in 2020? So before the events of the previous movie? Which doesn’t work and contradicts the dates mentioned in problem no. 1. Problem no. 3 (and the most headache inducing) If set in either 2025 or 2027 the line in the film “32 years ago the dinsoaurs returned” does not work with what’s presented in previous movies. Also if it is 2003, 32 years ago from 17 years on from that would randomly place the dinosaurs return as 1988, which also is wrong given we see ‘1986’ as the dinosaurs return date in Jurassic World Dominion. 1986 is the correct date according to internal lore documents. This may have been fallout from a very short production time, if so it would be most prudent to hire someone who can consult the filmmakers in ironing out these issues ahead of time, because these examples I give would have been SUPER SIMPLE to fix and avoid damaging fans relationship to the series. Here’s some deep cut Jurassic trivia for you. The Masrani Global logo was made specifically for the viral site we worked on. Despite never making it on screen in Jurassic World it did in Fallen Kingdom in the background on an activists placard during the news exposition. As far as I know this is only time it made it on screen. It was also used on placards within the Dinosaur Protection Group office (see set photo below) and was planned to have a large metal version, that would be mounted on the wall behind a company spokesperson, during the public announcement about the governments decision on what to do about the Nublar dinosaurs (or possibly during a news update about Henry Wu). Sadly this one was replaced by a government seal in the final film, but that makes more sense given the events which play out in the story.

One of the greatest achievements of my Jurassic work was having things I wrote appear on props in JWR. Would love to one day see a HQ photo of this info board on set! Got any @LeDoctor? 👀
