White people are not indigenous to America or Canada, but neither are the Native Americans or any other so-called indigenous people on the North American continent. They all came across the Bering Strait, during a time when it wasn’t underwater, from Russia. They just have been here a lot longer than those of us who came from Europe. Those of us who have been here for at least 300 years like my family, can be considered native, just like the Native Americans, and others. Indigenous means you came from that same area and never traveled to get there. I would say indigenous peoples are not as common as we think.
