Hello #PortfolioDay. Why not give this a whirl? =] I'm Jason, a research engineer, tool developer and technical artist based in the SF bay area. I investigate the #futureofmaking, including the creative use of #3Dprinting, #AR/#VR/#XR, #robotics, and #MachineLearning!

Had dinner with one of the world’s best bespoke tailors, who happens to be based in Seoul. He mentioned that a one-bedroom apartment in the city now runs about $1,000 a month—up from just $400 a decade ago. A good restaurant meal? Around $7. Compare that to $3,000/ month rent and $25 dinners in San Francisco. This tailor taught himself the craft by studying books and now mentors young people entering the trade. That kind of passion-driven, craft-based work becomes nearly impossible in US cities unless we address the cost-of-living crisis—especially housing. And it’s not just about tailoring. Any vocation outside engineering, law, or finance—whether you're a musician, artist, or skilled tradesperson—is increasingly unsustainable in urban areas because of skyrocketing rents.

More marker experiments. Still not used to the hard edges so I cheated a bit with digital blending. I need to figure out how this would work with the real thing 🤔

my oral mechanics approach on @PoHsuanLin character we made the teeth hidden during full opened mouth then make it appear as a simple shape during the smirk and smile. I know this technique is old but definitely working to push appeal on the character.

Back to basics. It's been ages since I drew my character using a traditional pencil. Decided to try out these iconic Blackwing pencils for the task. Very smooth. I can see why they are a favorite for animators. ✏️
