@demitases yeahhh exactly!! even if you just want to write good fanfic and don’t care about broader writing, it helps to read and write lots of different stuff so that you could enrich your internal writing resource trove. and i def agree, writing smth you dislike is interesting too 🥹

@plumeriade For real 😭😭 like the thing is. To be good at any art form you NEED to step out of your comfort zone. Sure, not everyone wants to improve (which is wild enough to me) but why are these people treating it like it killed their family 😭😭

but it really does explain how a lot of people treat themselves in relation to the media they watch, read, etc. They think because they’re “consumers” they have an active part to play in its production (see V*ltron)

right to dogpile on an author under the guise of constructive criticism? Clearly not, but it says volumes about how we think about writing and other media in existence. The gist to me is that this is an asshole move, not that fanfiction is non-commercial.

@chiakisimpbot its such a cop out too since most of the time its not even criticism 😭 criticism should *always* be given with intent to help the other person learn, but its almost always used as a way to put someone down/insult them. i wish ppl would block/scroll if they dont like something

say it with me: fan creations (whether it be art, fics, cosplays, etc.) are a privilege not a right you get these things because people want to share them, not because they have to. unless youre paying them, they dont have to take your ‘criticism’.

i get why people are so defensive of fic writers but my hot take is also that if you publicly post something you’ve written it’s open to (mindful) criticism just as much as it’s open to praise and you will actually not ever convince me that it’s automatically bad to discuss that

Bro this ellipsus feature even tells you how many times you have copy and pasted into the document, along with telling you ofc how long you've been writing on that document. That's amazing. More proof for when you get unfounded accusations of AI.
