@GeorgeNgaunjeII What you're missing is that he is not the only barber. He has many employees and several outlets. It's on public record that each outlets doesn't make less than 1.4M per day as per people's conversations with the employees. Also for accounts with high movement, banks give loans.

@Danstro_ @PhilOhSoFar This actually makes it make sense. People are buying at black market rate, which is more than double the bank rate. So 100m to 120m is normal range foe 16k to 20k USD.
Kwinako, ma unfair markup 😁

About six years ago, while travelling from Mzuzu to Blantyre, I stopped over in Lilongwe at the thick of covid. I stopped at City Mall to meet a friend before proceeding. This friend spotted a girl. A short thick black girl with hips. And very beautiful. He was smitten. Not really my type so I was surprised at his excitement but makonda makonda buluzi anakonda khonde, they say. He walked over to her as I waited. I saw them talk and talk and laugh. They had definitely clicked. After waiting for more than 10 minutes, I went over to them to say bye to my friend. I figured, they were not going to part ways sooner. And i was right. The girl was very friendly. I left them and went to meet another friend before proceeding to Blantyre. I heard later that they spent the whole day together and then slept at her house. A relationship started and they would video call me from time to time. A few weeks later however, It was over. Why? The girl had a bad breath. My friend thought it was a temporary thing that would eventually fade but it wasn’t. Every day breath was terrible and he could not find a way to tell her that. So he ended the relationship by saying “you are too good for me.”
He was right, though. The girl did have a bad breath. The day we met, I had also felt it but I didn’t say anything.
Some days after my friend had told me about the breath and break up, the girl sent me a long text via Twitter, actually. She went on a rant about my friend using her and asked for my number to talk. I gave her my number and she called. I went straight to the point. I said, “Look, the real reason my friend left you is because he says you have a bad breath. He is not lying because i felt it too. Has anyone, friends or family ever told you about it?”
She fell silent and seemed confused. I felt her disappointment and shock in the silence and sighs.
But i asked again, “Do you know that you have a bad breath?”
“No. Pemphero, I feel so embarrassed. Is it that bad?”
“Well, it’s bad because i wasn’t close to you but i felt it.”
“No one has ever told me but this makes sense. Some years ago, my ex broke up with me and i heard he was telling people ndimanunkha mkamwa. But i thought he was only saying it to shame me.”
Long story short; I advised this girl to see a dentist and get help. Which she did and she worked actively on fixing her breath. I met her again in 2023 and her breath was perfect. She even made me to smell her 😂Admittedly, apparently her family and friends knew but also were uncomfortable to tell her.
Reason i thought to share this is from this experience, i learnt to tell people the truth when they have a bad breath or body odor. At least they can work on it. I recently told a friend who works for a hotel that her breath was bad and she said “oh my goodness, i have been talking to customers all day.” Some days ago she came to my office for me to assess and i said its better. Then i remembered this encounter from six years ago and thought to share.
If your family or friends, have a bad breath or body odor, tell them. Don’t feel like you will offend them. You will be helping them. They will work on it and improve. In fact, when you meet me and my breath or smell is terrible, tell me!
