"It's like a pan frying an egg, for that split second they hold it on the bass"
Brian and Cyril think some free takers are fouling the ball and getting away with it.
Why have referees stopped pulling it?
🚨 | Ex-PGMOL boss Keith Hackett on the Amad foul vs Bournemouth:
"This IS a holding offence on Amad, and SHOULD have been awarded a penalty. No wonder #mufc are unhappy..."
I am of two minds: 1. It’s sad that this is now what artists have to do to get their work seen 2. What a brilliant, creative, and joyful piece of content this artist created that also got his painting seen
“It’s more natural and it's more accurate"
Damien Hayes doesn’t think left sided free takers with right hand on top are as accurate as right sided free takers with right hand on top
@dermeng@flynnerss Too many to mention. Wfd player with arms pinned gets done for overcarrying, Tipp player for same gets free. Wfd got 1 free in the 1st half. One.
@flynnerss I would disagree. Thought he did a good job. Let the game flow, pulled up technical fouls when he saw them. Consulted with umpires and linesman on a couple of occasions. 🤷♂️
@BrianJAFlannery Seamus Prender listed is not the same one as he would have been too young. Liam Stokes only played for Tipp in 87 and 88 so I'm going to go with 87. 'Bugsy' on the bench would suggest a later date but the fact that there is no Billy O'Sullivan suggests the earlier date?
Dr. Jared Cooney Horvath just delivered the brutal truth parents and educators need to face:
“Even in schools, it doesn’t matter what the size of the screen is… and it doesn’t matter who bought it… All of these things are going to hurt learning, which in turn are going to hurt our kids’ cognitive development.”
His core warning:
Gen Z is the first modern generation to be less cognitively capable than their parents — despite more years in school.
Attention, memory, literacy, numeracy, executive function, even general IQ — all declining.
The culprit isn’t school itself.
It’s the widespread introduction of screens and digital tools for learning.
Across 80 countries, once tech floods classrooms, performance drops sharply.
Kids using computers ~5 hours/day for schoolwork score over 2/3 of a standard deviation lower than those who rarely touch tech.
US NAEP data mirrors it: states adopt 1:1 devices → scores plateau, then fall.
The biological reality:
Humans evolved to learn deeply from other humans, not screens.
Screens circumvent the natural mechanisms of attention, memory consolidation, and deep processing.
When the tool fails to deliver, we don’t remove it — we redefine success to fit the tool (e.g., SAT reading comprehension reduced to skimming short sentences instead of deep passages).
That’s not progress.
That’s surrender.
The cost is a generation losing cognitive sharpness at the exact moment the world needs them sharpest.
Parents, teachers, policymakers:
How much longer do we let screens dictate what “learning” looks like?
We are sending our kids to school to memorize facts that AI can retrieve in 0.3 seconds.
We're grading them on essays that AI writes better than their teachers.
We're preparing them for jobs that won't exist by the time they graduate.
The entire education system is training humans to compete with machines at what machines do best.
That's not education. That's sabotage.
The schools that survive will teach thinking, not memorizing. Creating, not repeating. Discerning, not obeying.
Every other school is a museum that doesn't know it yet.
@WilliamRyland3 Mainoo and Casimero completely overrun in midfield because neither of them are top level. Cashmere because he old Mainoo because he not mobile or good enough. Until we upgrade those 2 we will struggle
Very, very lucky to win that. Extremely soft pen and definitely not a red card. Very lacklustre performance before the pen and afterwards. Where’s the bite that we saw a few weeks ago!!!?
#MUFC#MUNCRY
@WaterfordGAA Another capitulation. Typical of this team, can't put two performance back to back. Same reason they're the only munster team haven't got out of munster. Mentally weak.
I see the 5cm tolerance rule has been brought back in today to help Liverpool after only previously being used to give them a goal against Fulham a few weeks ago, but nowhere to be seen when United scored against West Ham a couple of weekends ago 🙄
