They're much more than that. They define how an API should behave. 🧵 🔹 GET Fetch data only. No side effects. Safe, cacheable, and idempotent. 🔹 POST Create a new resource. Sending the same request twice can create duplicate records. 🔹 PUT Replace an entire resource. Run it once or ten times—the outcome stays the same. 🔹 PATCH Update specific fields. Used for partial modifications instead of full replacement. 🔹 DELETE Remove a resource. Repeating the request shouldn't change the final state. Key concept: Idempotency = making the same request multiple times produces the same end result. ✅ GET ✅ PUT ✅ DELETE ⚠️ PATCH (depends on implementation) ❌ POST Why should you care?
