@Comrade_Dolphin I don’t think that is what OP is saying, implicitly or explicitly.

"Mathematics doesn't require critical thinking."
People REALLY have no idea what math is huh

At the top end I expect STEM and humanities to be about equal cognitively. It's just that STEM has a longer "runway" that's conceptually-easy, coursework-heavy, so to speak. Takes years to learn calculus, physics, chemistry, etc., but it doesn't really require *thinking* (1/4)
English

@PitmanSabaya @akarlin I disagree that asoiaf presents a nihilistic and subversive story. I’m curious what brings you to that conclusion
English

This is a Tolkien weakness because OP dragons and the world remaining human-centric violate suspension of disbelief.
Realistically Tolkien's dragons should have been the main characters of Middle-Earth. As apex physical, intellectual, AND magical beings, only the most powerful Maiar should have been able to match them.
Crass as it sounds, The Elder Scrolls is far more realistic, in that the dragons trivially dominated humans through their human underlings (the dragon-priests), and it took a dragon civil war (= elite defections) for humans to break free. GoT is also perfectly realistic, it is more or less exactly how a world in which one faction in a medieval world gains the biological equivalent of bomber aircraft would look like.

Tolkien is superior as always.

@com_radical @lost_nomad__ Pronouns mean the same thing it’s just trying to hide it
English

Actually a surprisingly deep topic. It’s similar to how people think Boomers/Silent Gen “touch people too much” or “complain about their wives too much”
In some ways, generations have become more and more 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘦

mori@morithedon
Millennial cuck humor is so weird
English

@FistingLater @lost_nomad__ To your worldview
English

@FistingLater @lost_nomad__ Going through your profile, it seems like this idea that men in America are forced into humiliation rituals by women who value submissiveness and don’t find their non traditionally masculine partners attractive but maintains relationships with them anyway might be load bearing
English

@com_radical @lost_nomad__ I could call myself a sex offender and it’d still be better than having pronouns in my bio
English

@FistingLater @lost_nomad__ Could be. I could see some truth in that. Another explanation is they think this kind of superficial irony reveals a deeper sincerity that they find endearing. Millenials are well known for their embracing of sincerity to the point of cringe
English

@com_radical @lost_nomad__ Yes, millennials value that because they’re all actually insecure and they think doing performative stuff like this shows that they’re super secure in themselves
English

@FistingLater @lost_nomad__ Yeah I’m not surprised you’d say that
English

@com_radical @lost_nomad__ It’s more because I’ve lost interest in trying to explain to you anything because you clearly are just being obtuse about it
English

@FistingLater @lost_nomad__ Again, we agree that YOU find it humiliating. And that could be due to some insecurity you hold or it could not be! I don’t wanna assume. I do KNOW that millenials do value self depreciating humor tho. That’s observable fact, their idiosyncrasies are well documented.
English

@com_radical @lost_nomad__ I don’t know why you think any man would willingly want Jason Momoa‘s hand face bombing him while he hold his girl away that’s just not funny. It’s honestly humiliating and if that’s what they want then by all means, let them have it
English

@FistingLater @lost_nomad__ You don’t really seem concerned with making a compelling argument without buying into weird assumptions tho so maybe this conversation is futile. You just seem to have a deep negative bias (probably informed by some personal experience) here that colors your ability to explain it
English

@FistingLater @lost_nomad__ “Those guys find it funny because they don’t have a choice too” I disagree, that’s a very big and nasty assumption to make based on the little information we have.
English

@FistingLater @lost_nomad__ It’s not really about whether we find it funny. It’s about the fact that the couples find it funny, and that sense of humor is an valued trait among millennials

English

@com_radical @lost_nomad__ That doesn’t sound very funny to be honest these women should not get into stand-up comedy
English

@FistingLater @lost_nomad__ The joke is based on the fact that Jason momoa is incredibly attractive and ripped, and so the humor is derived from the idea that these women have a chance with him. The bf/husband exists as the Straight Man to this heightened dynamic.
English

@FistingLater @lost_nomad__ “…because the guys aren’t attractive”. If they ARE attractive, then that undermines the idea that the only reason why either partner would participate in this bit is because the woman isn’t attracted to them. Do you see what I’m saying?
English

@FistingLater @lost_nomad__ These guys are attractive. And it’s not hard to imagine that there are plenty of women who would find them attractive. So that kinda undermines your reasoning here. Which seems to be “their partners make them do this because they aren’t attracted to them, we know that…”
English

@FistingLater @lost_nomad__ I wouldn’t call a woman insecure for that either, but tbf, I’m not a millenial so I don’t value an ability to laugh at yourself or make yourself the joke of a bit as much as millenials do. Do you disagree that millenials value humor and participation in bits in partners
English

@com_radical @lost_nomad__ There’s a reason not one of those guys in those pictures are attractive
I would never call a girl insecure for not wanting to reenact this type of picture with Kiera knightly or Scarlett Johansson, it’s honestly pathetic a relationship partner would even suggest such a thing
English
