Yes, Alice is right. Beak-tongue coordination is ubiquitous but distinguished in parrots. Crows' tongue is...just normal on my view. Husking may be a key. psycnet.apa.org/doiLanding?doi…

New preprint out! 🐦 We show that crows dynamically adjust their feeding depending on what the other bird does, and the effect is asymmetric across dominance–subordinate ranks. Behavior tracking was done with DeepLabCut.@DeepLabCut biorxiv.org/content/10.648…

Yet when viewed from above, the differing vocabularies, systems, and modes of thought in AL and Cog reveal psychology’s defragmentation. This both reflects the historical paths that brought us here and testifies that we are still midway along them.

Yes, associative learning is cognitive. We must throw straw-man away. Real question isn’t whether behavior is Cog or AL, but rather what underlying behavioral process is at work, which may well be captured by AL models A, B, or C, or by Cog models D or E. psycnet.apa.org/record/2026-17…
