@KeepItFrankLive @hiilinen_lassi No, he didn’t just change the time period, have you even seen the movie! He made Romeo and Juliet in alternate urban world; he styled and even changed inflections in verse to make it work with modern phrasing. Emerald made domestic abuse into some kink narrative!

The only real change Baz made was the time period. What Emerald did was something entirely different. she interpreted the novel through her own lens and translated how it felt to her. It was never meant to be a literal, page by page adaptation, and that’s made clear in the title. If you’re looking for a strict, word for word version, that’s a different creative choice. You can either wait for someone to make that kind of adaptation, or make it yourself. This film wasn’t trying to be that. It was a bold, visually driven interpretation, and as a piece of cinema, it was an incredible visual extravaganza.

#WutheringHeights was everything I thought it would be. It’s current, it’s fresh, it’s a new vision. This is the type of film that more Directors should be making. Old Hollywood is dead. Bring in the new by updating these stories with a pop culture twist. Emerald Fennel… you’re a visionary! My full review is up on IG @KeepItFrankLive

Kind of sucks that the new refreshers @askpanera isn’t part of the sip club. They got rid of the blueberry lavender lemonade and the citrus one too! Why did they take those away? And they were part of the Sip club too. Such a shame #Panera #PaneraSipClub

He didn’t take a female character who suffered domestic violence and re-interpreted it as masocism, a character who btw heavily implied to be SA by him.

What happened to the whole support for survivors? I find really disgusting how Emerald changed Isabella in someone who is into BDSM when in #WutheringHeights she suffers DV survivor and SA; it’s important b/c it shows how Heathcliff is a cancer to everyone around him!

@LacyMB LOL ooh the vibes is that all a movie is worth these days? Listen it’s great you enjoyed the movie but it’s not Withering Heights. When you take a character who’s a victim of abuse, and implied rape, you don’t make them a submissive in the movie as if they like it.

Regret to inform you all that I really enjoyed #WutheringHeights. Is it a particularly faithful adaption? No. Are the vibes immaculate anyway? Hell yes.

It’s completely a spit in the face to anyone who has suffered abuse to take Isabella’s tragedy and twist it into kink as a character who liked it

Take into consideration that #EmeraldFennell made a movie about assault and revenge w/#PromisingYouWoman then has the nerve to take one of the most abused literary characters and turn her abuse into KINK! #WutheringHeights. F her and this film. Shame on all them.

@sagesurge I loved Promising Young Woman, and had high hopes for Emerald’s future projects. “Throw the book away” isn’t good when the movie is CALLED Wuthering Heights lol. Basically this movie is a visual toxic inferno full of sex, angst, and possibly (hopefully not) necro scenes?

#WutheringHeights is a beautiful mess of passion, destruction, lust, revenge & unhinged behavior. Throw the book away & step into the madness of undeniable chemistry & explosive toxic desire. Margot Robbie & Jacob Elordi are enthralling. #WutheringHeightsMovie movie is exquisite
