I often wonder if this is a skill set derived from growing up dirt poor or a lingering scarcity mindset. Side-note: There are minimally 2-3 dollops left in there. 🪥😉

I hate doing video because that presentation style just isn't my jam. In-person presentations? Sign me up. I can get up in front of 5 people, 500 people, or 5000 people and present - I've done all those things. But making a direct-to-camera video? Meh. The funny part is, I actually know what the problem is - I don't respect the platform. Direct-to-camera video requires super high energy because it's inherently impersonal. By amping your personality and energy up to 11 you get past that disconnect and the viewer invests in you. I know this and I still can't really get into it. When I see people new to making videos, I almost want to reach out to them and say, "Your information is dying in the ass because you're boring. Be a bigger shinier version of yourself."

Some months ago, Kevon had invited feedback on the skeleton of this course—and when I saw it, I knew it was made for me, a small business owner wanting to nurture connections and community. This course is now in my inbox and I'm so looking forward to learning & implementing!

Stop relying on just your social content to attract people 💢 To spark growth, what you are missing is an ANCHOR ⚓ See here, my email course attracted 3,058 students in its first 2 years, all on autopilot. Today I'm launching Email Course Engine to help you build your anchor!

@AditiRaghuram And some of us learn faster, some of us take our time. Some of us learn by asking, some learn by observing. And there can be space for all kinds of learners in a group!

@connextcoaching Thank you! I’d love to; I’m not sure I know them all. Most of my NVC training was in the 2000s, and I’ve sadly lost touch with much of the community. Have you seen it yet? Can I email you a pdf?

My second version of a self-connection coloring book is now 13 pages. I don’t know what to do next to reach more people? Some families have already had deep conversations; some take the filled in pages to discuss with their play therapist. Body and feelings and needs awareness

Last weekend, I led my first open workshop of 2023, titled 'Finding Common Ground'—an introductory NVC workshop. I read, learn and share a lot about this topic because it's one of the things that drew me to learning how to communicate more mindfully and empathically.

Maybe it is a sign of growing older but people who are absolutely sure of themselves seem unpleasant to me. Give me the slightly tentative type, the type who's never 100% sure, the one who will be more considerate than required, the one who is gentler than needed.

The power of exploring these themes in community is that we understand that we're not alone: either in our challenges or in our unlearning & learning. We get to have community support as we take our first steps into these new ways of seeing and engaging with ourselves and others.
