I’m starting to realize that parental neglect is more pervasive with most of us than I ever considered. So many folks conditions + what they’re seeking in romance or in friendship really come down to trying to *finally* get parented in the way they needed as a child.

Genuinely curious—why don’t more people use their own parents/kid’s grandparents for childcare as opposed to daycare/preschool/nannies (which seem more common)? Is it common for boomer grandparents to show disinterest in their grandchildren?

Yesterday, I texted our gateman to come and collect his Easter rice. I told him to come with his plate because I had run out of takeaway packs. He replied, “Don’t worry ma.” I was a bit surprised because this is something I always do during festive periods. The only difference this time was the plate. I didn’t think much of it… Until my neighbour called me later and said the gateman reported me. He said I disrespected him, how can I ask a married man to bring a plate like a beggar just to collect food? I’m honestly still in shock. It was never that deep for me… I was just trying to share what I had. But I guess sometimes, what feels like kindness to one person… can feel like disrespect to another. Did I actually do something wrong?
