Trying this side hustle because of course I need another as I try to keep up with @resellerrowe who has another business every day. Following in @MikeMcCabe1970 footsteps based on @HSchenewark original post! Haven’t purchased yet but figure might as well get the listing up.

This was an $1800 flip. The local high school got a complete remodel. Everything inside was going to a landfill. Our neighbor was the Project Manager and called us, “you guys wanna come walk around and see if you want anything before this all gets thrown out?” We took a trailer load of shelving for our garage, ALL the original wood bleachers from the gym and this overhead fire door. All free. We are surrounded by opportunity.

@coreycreates A lot of times they auction things through Gov Deals. I’m not sure why they didn’t choose to do that in this case. She said they couldn’t get Habitat for Humanity to take anything either.

@StumpGuyTy Dude, When folks found out I was starting a dog poop scooping business, all I heard was 💩 puns. It was cool for like a minute. And even though I sold it over 3 years ago….I still can’t shake the label 😂

I love what I do for pretty much everyday of my life. Until I see mine or my wife’s extended family at a big dinner and I have to answer “So is that little stump thing going ok?” 15 times in one night. Makes me want to die.

Ran out of propane 4 minutes into this masterpiece. Back up tank was empty (because….not in full swing yet). Is this really the best way to solve this problem? Have a full backup.

Came across a post right here on X of a guy who rents Lifetime brand tables out from Costco. Did some research and found a few others in my market who mainly rent table and chairs for large events. I’m thinking yard sales, birthday parties, smaller gatherings. I will post better photos and descriptions and test. All else fails I will always have tables for friends and family.

local in-person AI classes for corporate boomers. think Claude 101. easily a $ 25K/mo opportunity. rent a presentation room. run meta ads targeting 35-60 year olds. charge $500-$1000 for a 2-day hands-on workshop. teach vibecoding, Claude, ChatGPT, prompting and agents. the demand is insane. these people see AI everywhere but have zero clue how to use it. they want face-to-face guidance, not online courses. run the same curriculum weekly. refine based on questions. multiple up-sell or down-sell opportunities. scale to multiple cities once you nail the format. you’re hitting a market everyone else ignores. corporate boomers with cash who prefer learning in person. they are also being told to learn these tools daily.. no chance this doesn’t work if you execute. go out and nail this.

This is for the “just send kids outside to play” crowd… Kids should play. But let’s be honest—today’s world isn't the same as the 1980s. Less recess. Barely any PE. More screens. “Just go play” isn’t a system—it’s hope. And here’s what’s funny… We’ll pay for: batting lessons soccer skills private coaching …but hesitate to invest in athletic development? We train skills… but ignore the engine. Kids don’t magically become coordinated anymore. They need the right environment. Free Play matters. But Guided play and movement skill training can build real athleticism.” #LTAD

3 days ago, newsletter buyer texts me and says he’s really regretting his purchase and is not going to make anymore payments. So he wants an agreeable default where I keep the money he’s given me and I get all the assets back.

Started REALLY regretting now not having the newsletter. It has 4k locals who sub with over a 50% open rate. And now I have not one, but 2 things to sell them. Not to mention, my 3500 member Facebook group (of local business owners) had to be included in sale.

Literally a week after I paid for my first magnet machine, I heard a podcast about tote rental. Did a little “searching,” and I REALLY love this as a local service biz (tote rental for moving). I believe I’ll book my first client in the next 2 weeks.

Heard a podcast about magnet making. Told wife about it since she mentioned it months ago for girls. She loved it, we ordered equipment….so now we’re selling magnets AND teaching our girls new lessons.

There are a lot of folks that get distracted by shiny objects - I am / was / forever will be on of them (the hazards of being insatiably curious and creative.) So for me, it was easy to think going bigger with your local newsletter territories meant more revenue... When Catskill Crew started, my instinct was to eventually expand to other markets. I bought the domains. I even designed the logos. I was ready and eager for the phase 2 expansion plan. But I never expanded. It never happened. Instead, I opted to go deeper - I knew the multi-market model was a distraction for me. I knew I’d go further with focus. More impact. More revenue. More fun. More friends. Plus, I love where I live. The rivers, the mountains, the history, the creatures (shout out to the trout), the humans. I know this place - I do not know the others. So here I am. Even after multiple offers to franchise - still here, still doing my thing, still focused. Blinders on to the shiny object. Will this change someday? Maybe. Maybe not. There are many who have executed the phase 2 expansion plans. Some succeed. Some get distracted. Every founder and every model is different so there is no blanket statement. But I will say that there are countless local media founders running one market doing 6 or 7 figures in revenue - these may be solo operators or they may have teams. But most importantly, they are building their companies on their terms with their own style for their market. Thats the beauty of this type of venture. Stay focused. Whether that is one market or 1,000 markets. But don't fool yourself thinking bigger is always badder.

Nobody talks about this live selling niche: Pins $1–2 to buy $20–50 per sale Sell out of a bedroom with a ring light The margin is stupid good The barrier to entry is basically zero You just have to turn a camera on and do the thing

Two movers reached out this morning. They want to be referral partners with Totes For Moving. Sincere question: Moving is big ticket….referral fees seem appropriate here. Thoughts?
